Ryall, Rapids Beat North Stars, 11-4
|
The Sault Ste. Marie Rapids trumped the Thessalon North Stars, 11-4, at Rapids Grounds. Sault Ste. Marie second baseman Troy Ryall was terrific. He was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Edmond Treitz, credited with the win, is now 8-2. He allowed 4 runs on 11 hits in 9 innings. With the win, Sault Ste. Marie goes to 54-35, while the North Stars fall to 40-49.
Sault Ste. Marie third baseman Josh Spottswood had a key at-bat for the Rapids in the bottom of the third inning. Facing right-hander Tommy Stagg, Spottswood hit a 2-run single. It put Sault Ste. Marie in front, 4-0. For the day, Spottswood went 1 for 5, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Spottswood.
