Sherbrooke Takes 3-2 Lead in National Championship of Canada
Game 5 was big. So was César Cruz.

The Sherbrooke starter rose to the occasion at Bonebreakers Field today, leading the Privateers to a crucial 6-2 victory over the Pickering Bonebreakers. Cruz threw 9.0 innings allowing 2 runs as the Privateers won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 National Championship of Canada.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Privateers found themselves in a jam. Pickering had the bases loaded with two out. The score was 5-2, Sherbrooke. Allen Charron was at the plate, hoping to deal the Privateers a serious blow. Instead, he flied out to end the threat.

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 8th , 1897 at Privateers Park in Sherbrooke.
