Amarillo Breaks Through for First Win in Championship of Texas; Now Trails 2-1
The Amarillo Horizons have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Nacogdoches Roaches, winning 10-6 at Roaches Field today. Horizons third baseman Bill Joyce was 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times. The win cuts the deficit facing the Horizons to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Championship of Texas.

The Horizons benefited from an error in the top of the fifth inning. Amarillo was leading 3-2 when Tomás Guzmán hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Amarillo in front, 5-2.

"Everything is so stressful now," Guzmán said. "I was just trying not to trip on my way up to the plate."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Roaches Field in Nacogdoches.
